What we do
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want keep valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our trained specialists are able to help you to pick the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives total privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signals and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
