Our process
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of sight?
From your answers to the questions our trained specialists are able to help you to pick the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and offers total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted windows at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint available, offered as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
