What we do
- You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Selecting the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
Using your answers to the questions our qualified specialists are able to help you to pick the correct shade. Below are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and offers total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the road until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signals and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
