How it works

  • You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
  • We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
  • We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • When the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
  • We can then take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

Which window tint shade is right for you?

Selecting the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
  3. Is it cover up valuables out of sight?

Using your responses to the questions our qualified specialists can help you to select the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.

Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?

We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe how tint is measured.

The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.

If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, something to consider is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.

It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not all window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The most superior tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio signal and gives the most temperature/UV protection.

All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
