Tinting your car windows yourself, can be a real pain, selecting the right shade, brand, and also just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be very difficult! Driving your vehicle to have the tint applied at a local garage can often be a real burden too, having to take time off work, or losing your car for many hours while you wait for it to be finished, is often very inconvenient.

How it works

  • You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to power.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
  • We might need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this preserves the edge of the tint.
  • We are then able to recieve payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.

Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?

Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
  3. Do you want cover up valuables from view?

From your responses to the questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to select the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even in darkness.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and offers absolute privacy.

Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?

We are asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.

The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars made today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.

If you choose to get your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.

It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

Which of the available tint do you install?

Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This is often found be the cheapest product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The best tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio and gives the best UV/temperature protection.

Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
