How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?
From your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars produced today have tinted windows at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint your front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio reception and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
