Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
From your answers to the questions our trained specialists can help you to choose the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint available, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signals and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
