How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?
Using your answers to these questions our trained professionals are able to help you to pick the right shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of cars produced today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio reception and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
