Tinting car windows yourself, is often a disaster waiting to happen, selecting the right shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Our process

  • You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
  • We may need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • Once the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
  • We’re then able to take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?

Selecting the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
  2. Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
  3. Do you want keep valuables from view?

Using your answers to those questions our qualified specialists can help you to choose the right shade. Below are the three main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from heat, UV rays & does add a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives total privacy.

Which car windows are we able to tint?

We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light through.

The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of cars made today have tinted windows at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.

If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.

It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This tends to be the least expensive tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The most superior tint available, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio reception and gives the best temperature/UV protection.

Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
