How it works

  • You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
  • Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
  • We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
  • We can then accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

Which window tint shade is the right choice for you?

Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
  2. Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
  3. Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?

Based on your answers to these questions our trained professionals can help you to choose the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & does add a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and offers complete privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.

The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today have tinted windows at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.

If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, something to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.

It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you install?

Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This tends to be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The most superior tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the best UV/temperature protection.

All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
