Tinting car windows on your own, is often a real pain, choosing the best shade, brand, and even just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be a real pain! Taking your vehicle to be tinted locally can often be a real burden too, needing to take some time off work, or having no vehicle for many hours waiting for it to be finished, is often a big inconvenience.

Our process

  • You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
  • We are then able to recieve payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?

Choosing the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
  3. Is it cover up valuables out of view?

Using your responses to those questions our trained professionals can help you to choose the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from heat, UV rays & also adds some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and offers total privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe the way tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light through.

The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of vehicles the come from the factory today come with tinted windows at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.

If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you may nullify your insurance.

It’s also illegal to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

Which of the available tint do you use?

Not all window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The finest tint available, provided as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and gives the most temperature/UV protection.

Having said that, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
