What we do
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Selecting the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of sight?
Based on your responses to these questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to select the right shade. These are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are asked this question many times. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the road until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio reception and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
