Tinting your car windows by yourself, can be a real hassle, choosing the right shade, brand, and also just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be very difficult! Driving your vehicle to be tinted at a local garage can often be a real burden too, needing to take time off work, or losing your vehicle for several hours while you wait for it to be finished, is often not possible.
At Tinted we are completely mobile, and we can cover the whole of the West Midlands & Warwickshire including Dunnington and surrounding areas. So we will come to your home or place of work, saving you time or valuable holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are completely insured for every tinting job we do.
We can also provide both tinted and vinyl sun strips, headlight tints, bonnet & roof vinyl wraps, and interior wraps.
How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the best tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?
From your responses to those questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to choose the right shade. Below are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles the come from the factory today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we will not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint available, provided as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
