What we do
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want cover up valuables from sight?
Based on your answers to the questions our qualified specialists are able to help you to select the correct shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of cars produced today have tinted windows at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, does not affect radio reception and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and even better, it is manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
