How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can completely dry, this preserves the edge of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of view?
From your responses to the questions our qualified specialists can help you to choose the correct shade. Below are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
