Tinting your car windows by yourself, is often a real hassle, choosing the right brand, shade, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be a real pain! So we will come to your home or place of work, saving you a lot of time or valuable holiday days. How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to recieve payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want cover up valuables from sight?
Using your answers to the questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to pick the correct shade. Below are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles produced today have tinted windows at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, does not affect radio signal and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
