Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of sight?
From your answers to these questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to select the correct shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and provides total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are asked this question many times. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
