How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to recieve payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of view?
From your answers to these questions our trained specialists can help you to pick the right shade. These are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted windows at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint available, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
