Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from view?
Based on your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists can help you to select the correct shade. Here are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from heat, UV rays & also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and provides absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something to consider is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, offered as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio reception and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
