Our process

  • You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
  • We can then accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.

What window tint shade is right for you?

Selecting the best tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
  3. Is it cover up valuables from view?

Using your answers to those questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to pick the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & also adds some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars made today have tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.

If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, something to think about is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.

It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The most superior tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, does not affect radio reception and gives the most UV/temperature protection.

Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
