Our process
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for your car?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it keep valuables from sight?
From your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to choose the right shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of vehicles made today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive product on the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio reception and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
