What we do

  • You make a booking for a time slot and place that suits you.
  • Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
  • We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
  • We could need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • Once the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for at least a week to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
  • We can then recieve payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.

What window tint shade is right for your car?

Selecting the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
  3. Do you want cover up valuables out of view?

Based on your answers to these questions our fully trained professionals can help you to choose the correct shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We’re asked this question many times. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of cars made today come with tinted windows at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.

If you choose to get your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.

It’s also illegal to install tint to the front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The finest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, does not affect radio and gives the most temperature/UV protection.

Having said that, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
