How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it cover up valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our qualified specialists can help you to select the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and offers absolute privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are regularly asked this question. To start with, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars produced today have tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
