How it works

  • You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
  • We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
  • We may need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can completely dry, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
  • We are then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.

Which window tint shade is right for your car?

Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
  3. Do you want keep valuables from sight?

Based on your answers to those questions our trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and also adds a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers absolute privacy.

Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?

We are asked this question many times. To start with, let’s describe the way tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.

The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of vehicles made today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.

If you choose to have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you remove the extra tint.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, something to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.

It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we will not tint front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not all window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This is often found be the cheapest product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The greatest tint available, provided as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio and gives the most temperature/UV protection.

All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
