Tinting your car windows yourself, can often be a real pain, choosing the right shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! How it works

  • You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
  • Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • When the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this preserves the edge of the tint.
  • We can then accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?

Selecting the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
  3. Is it cover up valuables from sight?

From your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to choose the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat & also adds a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives total privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.

The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars produced today have tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.

If you choose to get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, something to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you may nullify your insurance.

It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

Which of the available tint do you install?

Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The best tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, does not affect radio signals and provides the most temperature/UV protection.

Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
