Tinting car windows on your own, is often a disaster waiting to happen, choosing the best shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be very difficult! How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables from view?
Based on your answers to these questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to choose the right shade. Below are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. To start with, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars produced today have tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
