What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to recieve payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
Based on your answers to the questions our fully trained professionals can help you to select the right shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars produced today have tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you choose to get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
