Tinting car windows by yourself, is often a disaster waiting to happen, choosing the best shade, brand, and even just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be problematic! Taking your car to have the tint applied locally can often be a hassle too, needing to take time off work, or be without your car for several hours while you wait for it to be completed, is often not possible.
At Tinted we are completely mobile, and can cover the whole of the West Midlands & Warwickshire including Rugby and surrounding areas. So we will come to your home or place of work, saving you time or precious holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are completely insured for all the tinting work we do.
We can also provide both tinted and vinyl sun strips, light tints, bonnet & roof vinyl wraps, and interior wraps.
How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for at least a week to allow them to completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from view?
From your responses to those questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to choose the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and provides total privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint available, offered as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signals and gives the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
