What we do

  • You book a time slot and place that suits you.
  • Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
  • We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
  • When the windows have been tinted, we request you do not use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
  • We can then recieve payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.

What window tint shade is right for your car?

Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
  3. Do you want cover up valuables from view?

Using your responses to those questions our trained specialists can help you to choose the correct shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and also adds some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and provides complete privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe the way tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.

The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.

If you choose to have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, something to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.

It is also illegal to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not all window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The greatest tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio signal and provides the most UV/temperature protection.

All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
