How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around 7 days so that they can dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want keep valuables out of sight?
From your answers to these questions our qualified specialists can help you to choose the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from heat, UV rays & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and provides total privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are asked this question many times. To start with, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars made today have tinted windows at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to install tint to the front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.
The best tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
