How it works

  • You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
  • We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
  • We can then take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.

Which window tint shade is right for your car?

Choosing the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint for style and looks?
  2. Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
  3. Do you want keep valuables out of view?

Using your answers to these questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to choose the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & does add a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and gives absolute privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are often asked about this. To start with, let’s describe how tint is measured.

The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light through.

The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted windows at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.

If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.

It’s also illegal to install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

Which of the available tint do you use?

Not all window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The greatest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signals and provides the best UV/temperature protection.

Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
