How it works
- You book a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for at least a week so that they can dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to recieve payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of view?
From your responses to those questions our trained professionals can help you to pick the correct shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted glass at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all customers rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and even better, it is manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
