What we do
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables from view?
From your answers to those questions our trained specialists are able to help you to pick the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and offers total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are asked this question many times. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of vehicles made today have tinted windows at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint available, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signals and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
