How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We can then recieve payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables out of sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our trained professionals are able to help you to pick the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and offers total privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars produced today come with tinted glass at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we will not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest product on the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint available, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
