What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to recieve payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Is it cover up valuables from view?
Based on your answers to the questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to select the correct shade. Here are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted windows at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a trustworthy,respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest product on the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio and gives the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
