What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from view?
From your responses to these questions our trained professionals are able to help you to select the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of cars produced today have tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something to think about is your car insurance. By tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to install tint to the front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio reception and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
