How it works
- You book a time slot and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables out of sight?
Using your responses to those questions our qualified specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Below are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and gives total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to install tint to the front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
