How it works

  • You make a booking for a time slot and place that suits you.
  • Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
  • We can then accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.

Which window tint shade is right for your car?

Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
  2. Is it to shield children or animals from heat or UV rays?
  3. Is it keep valuables out of sight?

Using your answers to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and provides total privacy.

Which car windows are we able to tint?

We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light through.

The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted glass at almost (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.

If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, something to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting the front windows of your car, you may invalidate your insurance.

It is also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.

Ceramic

The greatest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio signals and provides the most UV/temperature protection.

All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
