Our process

  • You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to power.
  • We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
  • We’re then able to recieve payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

What window tint shade is right for your vehicle?

Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:

  1. Would this tint be for style and looks?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
  3. Do you want cover up valuables from view?

Using your responses to these questions our trained professionals can help you to pick the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays and also adds some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are often asked about this. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.

The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint makes possible for 20% of light to pass through.

The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars made today come with tinted windows at already (or close to) a 70% tint. Even though to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.

If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a court summons.

Also, a factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.

It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Tinted is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a good option, and, will not last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The greatest tint available, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio reception and gives the most temperature/UV protection.

Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
