Tinting your car windows by yourself, can be a real pain, selecting the best brand, shade, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be problematic! What we do

  • You make a booking for a time slot and a location that suits you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to power.
  • We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
  • We can then take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.

What window tint shade is right for your car?

Choosing the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
  3. Is it keep valuables from sight?

Using your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists can help you to select the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even in darkness.

Medium tintThis is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and also adds a little privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives total privacy.

Which car windows are we able to tint?

We’re often asked about this. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles made today have tinted windows at already (or nearly) a 70% tint. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.

If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, a factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.

It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

Which of the available tint do you install?

Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:

Dipped/Dyed Window

This tends to be the least expensive tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The best tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, does not affect radio and provides the most UV/temperature protection.

Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
