What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of view?
From your responses to the questions our trained specialists can help you to select the right shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passengers window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted glass at almost (or nearly) a 70% tint. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, a factor to consider is your car insurance. By tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Tinted is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the least expensive product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Tinted, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, provided as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signal and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
